Alleman High School - Athletics - Coach Bob DeDoncker
Athletics: Coach Bob DeDoncker:

On September 12, 2002 the Alleman community mourned the sudden death of Bob DeDoncker. He was a teacher, coach and friend to many. He died playing the game he loved, in the place he loved and with people he loved – his students. Bob left a wife Cheryl and two children Bryan and Brianne.

He was a positive, spirited man who loved life and lived each day as if it were a gift. Bob was always there for you – to listen or to ask you how your day was going, offer you a smile or a funny story, recap last night’s game or recite some new statistics. He could always find the bright side of an issue and had the ability to pass on his enthusiasm to his students, athletes and colleagues. No one could announce a starting line-up with the same zest as Bob. He made us all a little “bigger” in life than we probably were, but in his eyes we were all of that and more.

It is our responsibility to fill in the void that was left by his passing. Bob would be the first one to tell us to get back in the game. In his spirit and in his honor let us do just that. Bob left this world a better place by having been here – we can only hope that we might do the same.

In his memory and honor for all to see, the above picture shows a sign that is now displayed proudly on the varsity baseball backstop at our Alleman Athletic Complex.
